Community Involvement

There are tons of local programs and events happening in our community, and we are so thankful!

"Being kind is easy, but often overlooked in our busy everyday lives, yet it makes such a difference.”

Boys and Girls Club of North Central Illinois Logo

Boys and Girls Club partners with Kendall’s Kindness to encourage our members to go out of their way to be kind to someone else. Kendall’s Kindness provides the Club with resources that help uphold Kendall’s legacy. We honor that legacy on the 12th of each month by encouraging random acts of kindness and reminding those around us not to overlook the small things, like smiling at someone in the hallway or calling to check up on a friend.

Kendall's Kindness Fundraiser at Portillos

St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce awards Kendall’s Kindness the Civic Image Award for their mural Blue Eyes and Butterflies

We are honored to share that Kendall’s Kindness was recognized with the Civic Image Award at the 57th Annual Charlemagne Awards Dinner on May 2, 2025, presented by the St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce.

This award is not just a celebration of art, but a celebration of Kendall’s legacy and the way it continues to inspire kindness in our community.

We’re grateful to Sue McDowell and the St. Charles Arts Council for sharing these touching words in honor of the project:

“It is truly wonderful when the arts can be used to deliver a meaningful message. In addition to creativity and beauty, the gift of this mural that Kim and Jim Maffia have presented to the City of St. Charles—in memory of how Kendall lived her life, ‘being kind and passing it on’—stands as a powerful and perfect example of art with purpose. It has been our privilege to get to know the Maffias through this project. And through their generosity and giving spirit, we feel that we too have come to know Kendall—through both their words and this beautiful mural.”
Gianna Hillebrenner St. Charles North High School will be studying Industrial Design.
